WOMEN IN FOOTWEAR: MEET LATIA

What's it like to be a woman working in footwear? Let our fabulous female footwear family give you a first-hand look at what footwear has taught them and what it takes to thrive in a typically male-dominated industry.

In this week's series, meet Latia; An all-rounder who believes that every manufacturing product requires a woman's touch.

DESCRIBE YOUR JOB?

Well, Where do I start? I’m a bookkeeper, driver and dispatch manager. I also buy the raw materials needed to manufacture the shoes.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING WITH US?

For about two years now.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE PROCESS?
It’s fun working in the shoe manufacturing process because you're always the first to see new designs as well as the end result. It’s also exciting to dispatch the awesome new products to our clients.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MATSIDISO SHOE AND WHY?

Ughh, I can’t decide between the Naleli boot in Jaguar or the Naleli boot in Salt & pepper Nguni. They’re both one of my favourites!

WHAT HAS MAKING SHOES TAUGHT YOU?

It’s taught me that there are various steps that need to be taken when manufacturing shoes and each shoe is a process.

WHAT HAS IT BEEN LIKE WORKING AS A WOMAN IN A MOSTLY MAN DOMINATED INDUSTRY?

There haven’t been many issues on my side, we all work well together. I believe every manufacturing product requires a woman’s touch.

Thank you so much, Latia! You are an amazing asset to our team and we are grateful to have you. Thank you for sharing a bit of your journey in footwear.
